Contemporary Art Gallery will showcase the watercolor paintings of Oklahoma City artist Deborah Burian throughout May. Burian is an award-winning artist who is inspired by wide expanses and by the secrets found in hidden hollows. Her work, which has been accepted in many national and regional juried shows, has been described as “luminous” and “exciting.” She applies both novel and conventional approaches to watercolor, using the synergy of water merging with pigments to capture the magic of a fleeting moment. An opening reception is planned at the gallery during the Paseo Arts District’s First Friday gallery walk, from 6 to 10 p.m. May 4. The public is invited to attend, meet the artist, see her works as well as works by other gallery members, and enjoy light refreshments and live music. The show runs through May 29.
